This town goes all out for Christmas!
The small town of Locorotondo in southern Italy, perched on a hill, features an “intricate network of little streets lined with old buildings.” Many of the town’s buildings have distinctive cone-shaped roofs, adding to its fairytale appearance.
Around mid-November, Locorotondo’s residents fill the narrow alleys of the town’s center with festive displays. The whitewashed walls of its buildings are spotlighted by scenographic lighting, and the alleys are brightly colored in decorations of fir branches and flowering plants, along with Christmas ornaments such as bulbs, snow crystals, bows, and stars.
Residents and visitors stroll frequently through these scenic alleys on cool – yet nearly always snow-free – days and nights, until these displays are taken down sometime in January or February.
